MY dōTERRA ROUTINE
My doTerra Daily Routine:
Morning to Evening Essentials
I've been living this way since 1992. Before the internet told me to, before it was a movement, before anyone had a name for it. What's on this page is actually what I use, when I use it, and why. I’ll admit something. I love thrifting and hitting garage sales. But when it comes to my health and personal care products, I’m an absolute ingredient snob.
I started using doTerra in 2011, introduced by a nurse friend. I was skeptical. I was already using essential oils and adamantly anti-MLM. So I did what any reasonable skeptic does. I deep-dived reviews and did side-by-side comparisons with every other brand I thought was decent. I even contacted several companies asking questions about their products, testing, and sourcing.
It was my husband who settled it. He said: "These work. Stop buying the others and just get doTerra even if they cost more."
Then I learned more about the company and their sourcing ethics, fair wages, and third-party testing. I was sold. And over time I realized their product line was so much more than just essential oils: personal care items, supplements, cleaning products. All powered up with essential oils.
doTerra became my trusted source, full stop. Everything on this page is something I reach for daily. When we reduce unnecessary chemicals and reduce our toxic load, the body functions more efficiently. And we begin to heal.
One quick note: My full routine includes supplements, household items, and personal care products from several sources and companies. This page covers my doTerra lineup specifically.
Morning Bedroom Routine: Before I Leave the Room
Before my feet hit the kitchen floor
My nightstand has a lot going on. I prep the night before so my morning is already half done before I'm fully awake. First thing is….blue blocking glasses. I wear them until I can get sunlight in my eyes.
doTerra Lemon Essential Oil in water
I keep a 32 oz mason jar of water with a drop of lemon oil and a pinch of sea salt (or Recharge electrolytes) on my nightstand. I chug it while I'm getting dressed. Hydration before coffee or anything.I get dressed as soon as I get up, shoes included. This is not negotiable. Dressed = ready to face the day. It’s 20 year old FlyLady tip.
Adaptiv Touch Roller to start the day out chill
I keep a roller bottle in my closet and inhale it while I’m dressing. It's a calming blend that helps ease into the morning without cortisol chaos.I roll it on my wrists and take a few deep breaths. Takes ten seconds. Changes the whole morning.
OnGuard Toothpaste on my toothbrush
Clean ingredients. No fluoride controversy. Xylitol sweetened for oral health. Supports oral immunity. I've been using this for years. Great flavor, tooYarrow|Pom Facial Serum for amazing skin
Face wash and moisturizer in one. I apply it morning and night and a thin layer does everything. Simple, clean, and my make-up-free skin absolutely glows.Rose Hydrosol Face Mist an occasional luxury
A few spritzes after the serum. Adds a layer of hydration that lasts. I use this occasionally, not everyday. It’s a luxury!Leave-In Conditioner my hair craves this stuff
A few spritzes into my curls and I'm done. No heat, no fuss. It plumps the curl without weighing it down.
Top ponytail. Out the door.
Morning Kitchen Routine: Supplements, Diffuser & Quiet Time
Supplements, diffuser, Bible, breakfast
I lift the blinds, start the diffuser, ditch the blue blockers, and head outside for morning sunlight before anything else. Circadian rhythm set; this preps me for solid sleep this evening. Then back in for breakfast and quiet time.
Foundational Wellness Bundle morning supplements
doTerra VMG (vitamins, minerals, greens, superfoods), EO Mega+ (essential fatty acids), and Restore Probiotic. This is my nutritional foundation and fills the gaps that even a clean diet leaves.I take these with my high-protein breakfast: eggs, chia pudding, etc. Supplements work better when taken with food.
Vitamin D + K add-on
D levels matter more than most people realize and K2 is what gets calcium where it belongs. I add this to my morning stack for immune and metabolic support.Abode Multipurpose Surface Cleaner for all the surfaces
I wipe down counters and the sink every morning. Clean ingredients. No endocrine disruptors. Smells like a fresh, real home instead of a chemical plant.OnGuard Foaming Hand Wash clean and no harsh toxins
After cleaning counters. It's reflexive at this point. No harsh chemicals or antibiotic handwash here.Balance Blend for quiet time grounding
I often reach for an oil to ground me before Bible study. Balance is a go-to: spruce, rosewood, frankincense, and blue tansy. Then I I settle in and spend some time with God.This is the part of my morning I protect most fiercely. Mushroom coffee or matcha, my Bible, and an oil that tells my nervous system, “Be still and know.”
Work Day: My doTerra Office Routine
Focus, concentration, steady energy
Before I sit down to work, I make a second mason jar of water and set the office diffuser going. Then I set a timer for breaks every 45 minutes.
MetaPWR Recharge Electrolytes in water
Lemon Lime flavor in a 32 oz mason jar, sometimes with a hibiscus tea bag. Electrolytes support cellular hydration — not just water volume. This keeps me steady through the morning without reaching for more caffeine. So yum. This is genuinely something I look forward to. The added hibiscus tea bag is so tasty.
Wild Orange + Peppermint in the office diffuser
Peppermint supports alertness and focus. Wild orange lifts mood. Together they're my favorite work blend. It’s energizing and a lovely smell.Thinker Blend focus roller. Yes, it's from the kids line
Adults can absolutely use the kids line — I roll it on and it genuinely supports concentration. Sometimes I use a focus blend I created myself. Either way, this is my pre-deep-work ritual.Don't let "kids line" stop you. The oils don't know how old you are.
Midday: Lunch, Afternoon Walk & Cravings
Digestion support, blood sugar, afternoon walk
Lunch, a quick walk if it's sunny, and a handful of products that keep the afternoon from derailing everything I built in the morning.
TerraZyme Digestive Enzymes with lunch + dinner
I take one with every meal. Digestive enzymes help break down food properly — especially important as we age and natural enzyme production slows. Less bloat, better absorption.MetaPWR Assist for higher-carb meals
I take this when I'm eating more carbohydrates than usual. It supports healthy blood sugar response — which matters enormously for energy, cravings, and metabolic health. I reversed pre-diabetes. This works.Sun Lip Balm Mineral Sunscreen and an afternoon walk
Clean mineral sunscreen on my lips every time I go outside. I'm prone to cold sores and sunscreen on the lips is non-negotiable for me. This one is genuinely clean and goes on smooth.Shinrin-Yoku Essential Oil + afternoon grounding
A quick swipe before or during the afternoon walk. Forest bathing in a bottle: grounding, calming, and it lowers cortisol. Named after the Japanese practice of spending time in nature.MetaPWR Gum for those afternoon cravings
Afternoon cravings are often a blood sugar and habit signal, not real hunger. This gum takes the edge off in a completely clean way. It works. I was surprised too.Copaiba + Frankincense sublingual drops One drop of each under the tongue sometime during the day. Both have significant health benefits: cellular support, inflammatory response, overall wellness. It takes about five seconds. Easy win.
Evening & Night: Wind Down & Sleep Support
Sleep prep, recovery, what's on my nightstand
Blue blockers go on at least two hours before bed. My evening routine is slower and intentional. I’m protective of my sleep because this is where recovery actually happens.
OnGuard Mouthwash + Toothpaste
Mouthwash before brushing. Then OnGuard toothpaste (or SuperMint if I want something brighter). Oral health is foundational and connected to heart health. Most people don't give it enough attention.Yarrow|Pom Serum evening application
Same serum I use in the morning — a thin layer to wash and moisturize. One product. That's it. My skin has never been better.Yes, one facial product. Really. And my skin looks fantastic. This is the counterculture part of my routine people frequently ask about.
doTerra Castor Oil eyelids + nostrils
A swipe on my eyelids and a little in my nostrils every night. Benefits for vision support and respiratory health. Google it. The research is fascinating.doTerra Castor Oil + RevitaZen Detox Blend in the belly button
A few drops of castor oil in my belly button with a drop of RevitaZen for liver and kidney support. An ancient practice with real benefits for detox support while you sleep.I know. Just google "navel oiling" and then come back and thank me.
Shinrin-Yoku + Serenity in my bedside diffuser (which you can get free)
3 drops each in the diffuser by my bed. Serenity supports deep, restful sleep. Shinrin-Yoku helps lower morning cortisol meaning I wake up calmer than I went to sleep.Serenity Stick + Calmer Blend on wrists. Yes, Calmer is the kids line
A swipe of the Serenity stick on my wrists, then Calmer blend. Both signal to my nervous system that the day is done. The kids line, again. Adults need calming too.Lavender Touch handy on the nightstand
Always on my nightstand. Great for itchy eyes, just a tiny bit on the brow bone (not in the eye). Also there for any moment I need a calming reset in the night.
Maybe you noticed that I don’t shower or wash my hair every day. Yeah, that’s another counterculture thing. More on that later.
